This sprawling, rural property in the Columbia Gorge River Basin is home to idyllic, towering conifer groves and wind-swept meadows with panoramic views of the Cascade Mountains, in the midst of a transitional landscape where the Pacific Northwest rain forest begins its gradual, many-miles-long transition to high desert.
A massive, timber-framed barn anchors this 1880s-era farmstead, as a rustic architectural focal point on the 20-plus acre property. A series of primitive, and time-tested-sturdy structures, including a charming and historic farmhouse and multiple cedar-planked outbuildings radiate-out from the historic barn to establish the property’s captivating hub.
Pistils built an elaborate series of interconnected pathways from the hub to provide access to the entire property, allowing the home owners to enjoy the naturalistic beauty of the many and varied ecotones of forest and meadow that compose this expansive bucolic landscape.
Close to the buildings, a variety of colorful perennial plantings and textural ornamental grasses abound, blending seamlessly with the native landscape beyond, with stepping stone pathways that wind from the farmhouse to a cedar hot tub and rustic timber bridge that crosses a seasonal stream nearby.
